The Longest Covered Bridge in the World crosses the Saint John River between the Town of
Hartland on Main Street and the local service district of Somerville. Concrete ramps enter the bridge that is
390.75 metres (1282 feet) in length, with an adjoining walkway of the same length that has been described as being
a covered bridge of its own. The bridge was not covered until 1922 and was built by the men of the community.
It opened as a toll bridge until a political platform set it free and the ownership soon became the New Brunswick government.
The Hartland Visitor Information Center is located adjacent to the covered bridge on Main
Street and offers arts, crafts and novelties from the community.
The Covered Bridge Golf and Country Club located in Hartland is a 18-hole championship course which features
a driving range, cart rentals, a stocked proshop, custom club fitting, golf lessons, a practice green and a dining room and lounge.
The Observation Gazebo sits on prime property on the bank of the St. John River giving tourist a picnic
area while gazing at a panoramic view of the covered bridge and the valley.
Dr. Walter Chestnut Library and Gallery located on Main Street in Hartland originated in 1912, as a federal
funded post office and armoury. It was built as part of an effort to make the Government's presence known in small communities
across Canada.
Covered Bridge Potato Chips - Enter part of the county's history in the agricultural world of
potatoes by crossing the threshold of the Covered Bridge Potato Chip factory. Not only will the tour provide
insight of the history of the potato but it also allows you to watch an old fashion kettle chip be produced.
The factory is located within minutes of the Covered Bridge Bed and Breakfast.

The Hartland/Somerville valley hosts many recreational activities and a place to take advantage of such as;
snow machine trails, cross country skiing, hiking trails along the St. John River utilizing the railroad bed, bass, trout and
salmon fishing, canoeing, kayaking, softball/baseball diamonds, arena and recreational park complete with swimming and wading
pools complimented by playground equipment. This area is the location of many community gatherings such as; the Firemen's
trade show, local potato festival, pistol club, physical fitness classes, hockey and ball tournaments, and recreational curling.
This land has many Maple trees and the folks from the community take advantage by tapping these trees as part
of a sugar bush operation. Maple syrup, toffee and fudge with many spin offs transpire in the spring of the year. During the
fall season guests from all over the country come to the valley to immerse themselves in the spectacular colors of the foliage.
